Volunteering with DVAS

Become an advocate for domestic violence survivors and their children, or join one of our sub-committees. DVAS recognizes the contribution that volunteers make to the success of our agency. With the assistance of dedicated volunteers, we are able to continue our mission of ending the crime of intimate partner violence and empowering its survivors. DVAS utilizes volunteers in a variety of positions and has created a program that not only meets the needs of our agency, but also is flexible enough to meet the needs of today’s volunteer.

Volunteer Qualifications

  • All volunteers must be 18 years old or older. Due to state regulations, we are not allowed to have minors volunteer or accompany volunteers in the shelters.

  • Many DVAS volunteers are survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV).  However, if you are a survivor of IPV or have experienced a loss due to IPV, we ask that you wait a minimum of 12 months before volunteering as a Direct Service volunteer with DVAS.

  • In order to maintain continuity of service and effective communication, we prefer that volunteers sign up for an average of a minimum of one hour per week.

  • If you meet the above qualifications, please contact us.
